Abstract |
The Serial Femtosecond Crystallography (SFX) experiments at XFELs use specialized liquid injectors to deliver nano to micron crystals into the beam while minimizing background scatter from mother-liquor solutions or crystal holders. We have developed a simple device to deliver nano to micron size crystals from their native crystallization solution to the x-ray beam at room temperature and atmospheric conditions. A prototype device has been tested at the XPP instrument facility at LCLS (hit rate ~85%) and SSRL microfocus Beamline 12-2. The simplicity of fabrication, assembly, and ease of operation of the device will make the precious LCLS beam available to wider structural biology community. |
