The user science poster session is a great time to network with colleagues to learn about the latest capabilities, technology and research. Plan to attend to share your latest advances and results!
Users presenting posters must be registered for the Users' Meeting. The User Science Poster Session & Reception will be held ~5:15-6:30 pm on Thursday, October 9 at the SLAC Arrillaga Recreation Center Patio. This is beyond SLAC Gate 17, so bring your ID badge or register in advance.
Posters will be assigned space on a 48" x 48" cork board on which diagrams, graphs, data, pictures and a small amount of text may be mounted (push pins will be provided; see poster preparation tips below). Authors are responsible for taking down and retrieving their posters BEFORE 7 PM on Thursday, October 9.
Users are invited to advertise their poster during the poster blitz which will occur in Kavli Auditorium during the October 9 morning session. To participate, prepare a ~30-45 second pitch for your poster and send one PowerPoint slide via email to Bill 'PosterMeister" Schlotter before October 6. Be Creative!
Set up posters ~5-5:30 pm on Thursday, October 9. Authors are encouraged to remain with their posters during the poster session, 5:30-6:30 pm on October 9. A reception will be held in conjunction with the poster session. Remove posters before 7 pm on Thursday, October 9. Posters not retrieved by this time will be re-purposed at the relevant beam lines or discarded.
Poster Preparation Tips
The content of each poster should be clearly divided into sections including introduction, experimental aim (or problem definition), work summary, results, and conclusions. Diagrams, graphs, data, pictures and a small amount of text may be mounted on the 48" x 48" cork board which we will provide. Push pins will be provided for mounting materials. No audiovisual equipment is available. Poster authors may make copies of their posters or papers available to participants.
Legibility - The poster should be readable from a distance of at least 5'. Suggested sizes are a minimum graph size of 10" (25 cm), section heading letters of 3/4" (2 cm), and text and figure lettering not less than 3/8" (1 cm).
Heading - A heading label including the title, author name(s), and the address of the primary author(s) should be included. The recommended lettering size is 1-3/16" (3 cm). This should be mounted at the top of the poster board.
Titles - All figures and tables should be titled.
Dimensions - The entire size of the poster material(s) is limited to 48" x 48".
If you will be traveling from out of town, we encourage you to make reservations at our Guest House as soon as possible before AUGUST 22 (reference the SSRL/LCLS Users' Conference group block 'USERS1014') as rooms fill up quickly.
